In Chess, Dommaraju Gukesh crushed the world no. 5 Ian Nepomniachtchi with White pieces in the 5th round of Tata Steel Masters at Wijk aan Zee, Netherlands. After suffering two consecutive defeats, the Indian prodigy scored a strong win against the two time World Championship Challenger, Ian Nepomniachtchi. Gukesh created a messy and complex position over the board and gained a big advantage with a nice tactical shot and converted it smoothly into a victory.

Meanwhile, the match between R. Praggnanandhaa and Dutch grandmaster Anish Giri ended in a draw.
