Second seeds Rohan Bopanna and Florin Mergea have entered the sem-finals of the Men's doubles in the Gerry Weber Open tennis tournament. In the quarter-finals at Halle, Germany, the Indo-Romanian duo overcame the Croat-Finn pair of Marin Draganja and Henri Kontinen in two tight sets 7-6, 7-6 in one hour and 22 minutes. Such was the quality and intensity of tennis in the grass court fixture that there was no break of serve in the entire match. Bopanna and Mergea did not get any break chance in the opening set but they saved three breakpoints on their serve to take lead via tie-breaker. In the second set, the two pairs had one chance each for the break of serve, but they did not succeed and eventually it was too decided through a tie-breaker in which the second seeds prevailed. Bopanna and his partner next face the American pair of Eric Butorac and Scott Lipsky. They came into this event after winning the Merecedes Cup, last week.
