Roger Federer crashes out

Roger Federer's dream of a second French Open success was crushed by Swedish sledgehammer Robin Soderling at Roland Garros in Paris. Soderling was back to his gatecrashing best, sending 14 aces and 19 forehand winners flashing past the world number one. With 16 Grand Slam titles under his belt, Federer's lack of serving strength also played a part in his stunning 3-6, 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 quarter-final loss. Soderling, will face the Czech Republic's Tomas Berdych on Friday for a place in the final. Tomas defeated Mikhail Youzhny of Russia in the quarterfinal. Indian ace Leander Paes had a mixed outing as he and partner Lukas Dlouhy stormed into the semifinals of men's doubles while Paes and Cara Black crashed out of the mixed doubles event in the quarterfinals. The third-seeded Indo-Czech pair defeated eighth seeds Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski of Poland 6-1, 6-3 in the doubles quarterfinal.
