17-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer today advanced to the quarter-finals of Men's singles of the Australian Open with a gruelling five-set victory over Japan's Kei Nishikori. The Swiss beat Nishikori 6-7, 6-4, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3. Federer will now play Andy Murray's conqueror Mischa Zverev. Earlier, world number one Andy Murray made a shock exit from the tournament. In the fourth round game, Murray was stunned by an unseeded German Mischa Zverev, 5-7, 7-5, 2-6, 4-6. World number two Novak Djokovic has already bowed out of the tournament.In another Men's singles match J Tsonga beat D Evans 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 6-4. In the other Singles matches, 8th seed Svetlana Kuznetsova of Russia made an exit, while Stanislas Wawrinka and Venus Williams advanced to the quarter-finals.In Women's Doubles, the fourth seeded Indo-Czech pair of Sania Mirza and Barbora Strycova crashed out in the third round after losing to the unseeded Japanese team of Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato, 3-6, 6-2, 2-6. In Mixed Doubles, Leander Paes and Martina Hingis progressed to the second round. Sania and Rohan Bopanna, with their partners, have already made it to the Mixed Doubles second round.
