In Afghanistan, a roadside bomb has killed nine civilians when it struck a vehicle in the eastern province of Khost. Deputy provincial police chief said, the civilians were driving into Khost city on Saturday when the blast hit their van. The dead include, three women, four children. He blamed the attack on enemies of Afghanistan, a term often used to refer to Taliban militants who have waged a bloody insurgency against Afghan and foreign forces in that country.In a separate incident, three rockets were fired into the heart of Kabul on Saturday morning, with one landing close to the presidential palace. Interior ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashary said, the attack came before the start of the rush hour when the city was almost empty and caused no casualties. Two other rockets hit a mixed residential and market area.
