In Uttar Pradesh, at least 13 persons including 6 women and five girls were crushed to death and 4 seriously injured last night in a road accident in Etawah district. A police spokesperson told our Allahabad correspondent that the accident happened when a driver of a truck chassis lost control over his vehicle and crushed 17 persons sitting on the road side on Etawah Farrukhabad road near Baralokpur village in the district.

Police have arrested the driver of the vehicle. Agitated over the accident, local people blocked road traffic which was removed after the intervention of senior district officers.
