In Jammu and Kashmir 19 persons were killed and 20 others sustained injuries, 17 of them critically, in a major road accident in the hilly district of Poonch on Saturday. The incident occurred when a badly overloaded Canter vehicle rolled down into the 250 feet deep gorge at Madana, about 19 kilometers from Poonch town. The vehicle was on its way from Surankote to Poonch when one of its front tyres burst at Madana at around 1.30 pm as a result of which the vehicle went out of control and rolled down the deep gorge.
