Rly Minister lays foundation stone for construction of new Railway Station at Imphal

Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu laid foundation stone for construction of a new Railway Station at Imphal this morning.<br/><br/>Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Prabhu said that the NDA Government at the Centre is working for integrated development of the North-East, and connectivity is a thrust area for the same. He further said that the construction work of the railway station will be closely monitored by his ministry.<br/><br/>Mr. Prabhu also assured that the proposal from Manipur Government to extend the rail link from Imphal to the border town Moreh of the state will be looked into. <br/><br/>He said that the project will require about 90 thousand crore rupees and he will take up the matter with the Prime Minister for approval.<br/><br/>Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Union Minister of State for Railway Rajen Gohain, Lok Sabha MPs from the state Dr. T. Meinya and Thangso Baite and state MLA K. Sarat also attended the function.
