With signing of an agreement between Ircon International Limited and Rail Land Development Authority, RLDA, the railway stations in the country will now have a modern look with better amenities for passengers. Talking to media persons in New Delhi after the signing ceremony, Railways Minister Dinesh Trivedi said, railway stations will be developed as vibrant centres of the life of cities for commerce, entertainment and social space. He said, initially some identified stations with infrastructure of well designed concourses high quality waiting spaces easy access to the platform and congestion free platforms will be developed.
The Minister said that redeveloped stations will be disabled friendly and will have provision for convenient entry inter-platform transfer and easy access to all facilities for physically disabled and senior citizens. Mr. Trivedi made it clear that there would be no compromise with the security and safety of the passengers.
Mr. Trivedi said that heritage look of Station will also be maintained. The agreement was signed between MD of IRCON International Limited Mohan Tiwari and RLDA Chairman Pankaj Jain.
