Rivers flowing above danger mark in UP

In Uttar Pradesh, the Ghagra river is flowing above the danger mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki and Ayodhya while Sharda river is also flowing above the danger mark in Lakhimpur Khiri district. The Central water commission said, the Sharda river and its tributary Dewaha are continuously rising, the Sharda river is flowing above the danger mark in Paliankalan in Khiri district. More than two hundred acres agricultural land in Puranpur tehsil area of khiri district has been badly affected due to water logging in the fields causing damages to paddy and sugarcane crops. The Rivers are in spate across the state and several low lying areas are logged with water. In Lakhimipur Khiri, Puranpur tehsil is severely flood affected with waters from Sharda river. AIR correspondent reports, at least six people have lost their lives due to rain related incidents and lightning.
