Water Resources Minister Uma Bharti today said, the river-linking projects will be implemented only in those states which have given their consent on them. Replying to supplementaries in the Lok Sabha, Ms Bharti said, the government is committed to implementing the river-linking projects. She said, river linking is the only solution to flood problem in the country as 5,000 crore rupees are spent on flood management every year. <br/><br/>She informed, there are 31 river-linking projects in the pipeline, of which Ken-Betwa project is in advanced stage of implementation while action has been taken on five other projects. She said, when the river-linking project is implemented, 33 million hectares of land could be irrigated and 34,000 Mega Watt power could be generated.
