Rising inflation matter of concern, says MS Ahluwalia

Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Montek Singh Ahluwalia today said inflation has entered the worrying area but he expressed hope that the soaring prices will come down in the next two months.<br/><br/>Speaking on the sidelines of a function in New Delhi today, he said inflation was a concern and needed to be brought down, but dismissed concerns of a prolonged period of double-digit inflation. <br/><br/>Our correspondent reports the wholesale price-based inflation soared to a 16-month high of 9.89 per cent in February, driven mainly by rising prices of food, fuel and manufactured items. The planning commission deputy chairman said the growth momentum has picked up . He said the government is confident that growth would remain good.<br/><br/>A meeting of the full Planning Commission, headed by Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, is slated to consider the mid-term review of the 11th Plan on March 20.<br/>
