Rise in cases of crimes against women and children in Delhi: Govt

Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju today said, the cases of crimes against women and children in Delhi has been increased. In a written reply to the question in Rajya Sabha, he said that as per information provided by the National Crime Records Bureau, the rape cases against women have been more than double in 2013 as compared to 706 cases registered in 2012.

While cases of assault on women with intent to outrage her modesty have spiked five times, from 727 to 3515. He said that Ministry of Home Affairs has sanctioned 321 crore rupees out of the Nirbhaya Fund to implement emergency response system to attend calls from women in distress and provide them immediate assistance.
