Rio + 20 Summit is being seen as an important occasion for global community to reaffirm its commitment to sustainable development and look for important templates to spurt global action on sustainability. The objectives of the conference are securing renewed political commitment for sustainable development and assessing the progress made since the rio conference and the remaining gaps in implementation of the outcomes.
Prime Minister will address the second plenary session of the Summit on Thursday.
Later on Wednesday, Dr Manmohan Singh will have bilateral talks with his Chinese counterpart Wen jibao. On the sidelines of the conference, Dr Singh will meet the Prime minister of Nepal, Baburam Battarai, President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksha..
