A glittery and visually appealing closing ceremony marked the end of Paralympics at Maracana Stadium in Brazilian City, Rio de Janeiro today. Singers, dancers and fireworks lit up the iconic stadium before tributes were paid to the Iranian cyclist Bahman Golbarnezhad, who died in an accident during his event on Saturday. Brazilian officials handed over the flag to Tokyo for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games as the 11 day long international sports event ended today. At the begining, many people feared that the Rio Paralympics would be a fiasco but some scintillating performances and stunning feats turned it into an unforgettable triumph of determination over disability. Paralympics sports event provided some very emotional moments through a breathtaking display of the indomitable human spirit. China dominated the Rio Paralympics games with 239 medals, followed by Britain, Ukraine and the United States. India capped off a successful Paralympic Games campaign in Rio by procuring their best ever haul of four medals, including two gold, one silver and a bronze medal.
