Rio Olympics: India's ace shuttler Saina Nehwal crashes out of women's singles event

Success continues to elude Indian sportsperson at the Rio Olympics. In a dismal showing in badminton, Saina Nehwal lost her second group stage encounter 18-21, 19-21 in women's singles to world No.61 Maria Ulitina of Ukrain, to crash out of the competition. In men's singles, the match between Kidambi Srikanth and Henri Hurskainen of Sweden is in progress. In another women's singles match, P.V.Sindhu will take on Michelle Lee of Canada.In shooting, both Gagan Narang and Chain Singh bowed out of men's 50 metre Rifle 3 positions event. Gagan Narang finished with 1162 with 33rd rank. Chain Singh finished with 25th position.In women's marathon final, Kavita Raut was 125th while O.P.Jaish 59th at the half way mark when reports last came in.In gymnastics, the whole country will be abuzz with Dipa Karmakar's Vault final in Artistic Gymnastics tonight. Karmakar is the first Indian, across both genders, to qualify for a Final event in gymnastics at the Summer Games.Indian men's hockey team will figure in the quarter-finals of the event against Belgium tonight. Currently ranked 5th team in the world, India will try to beat the 6th ranked Belgium to make a place in the last-4.In tennis, the mixed pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna will fight today in the Bronze medal match against Czech duo of Radek Stepanek and Lucie Hradecka.Indian boxing is another unit where a medal can be expected. In today's round of 16, pugilist Manoj Kumar will box against Uzbekistan's Fazliddin Gaibnazarov in the 64 kilogram weight class.
