Usain Bolt of Jamaica won the men's 200 metres race gold for the third successive Summer Games, crossing the line in 19.78 seconds at the Rio Olympic stadium. Andre de Grasse of Canada took silver, while Christophe Lemaitre finished third to claim bronze for France.Bolt ,however, failed in his bid to smash his own world record. Before the race, Bolt had said he would go for his world record of 19.19 seconds. Bolt said it was "a brilliant feeling" to win but he was not happy with his time and indicated he may not run the 200 metre at the world championships next year in London. Bolt, who just days earlier had become the first man inhistory to win three 100 metre titles in a row, will go for a third straight sweep of all three sprint golds in the 4×100 metres relay today. A triumph in Friday's 4x100m relay with Jamaica would give him a 'triple triple' — third straight sweep of the sprint golds — to bid farewell to the Olympics.
