Rio Dances: Closing Ceremony underway For The 2016 Summer Olympics

The glittery and visually appealing closing ceremony of 2016 Summer Olympics hosted by Brazilian City, Rio de Janeiro is currently underway at the Maracana Stadium. Colourful lights and mosaic patterns by dancers are creating visual effects that is canvassing deep and enriched heritage of Brazil. After over two weeks of sporting spectacle, the 31st Olympics is coming to an end. Before honouring the Brazil's national anthem, rhythmic dancers dressed like birds created the impression from a bird's eye view on geography of Brazil.Athletes from around the world have come together showing the sportsman spirit carrying their flag. For India, wrestler Sakshi Malik carried the Indian Flag into the stadium. Sakshi got the honour of being the flag bearer in closing ceremony, while Abhinav Bindra was the flag bearer in the opening ceremony. India finished its Rio Olympics campaign with 1 Silver won by shuttler PV Sindhu and 1 Bronze medal bagged by Sakshi Malik. Sindhu is now the first Indian woman to claim an Olympic Silver medal while Sakshi has become the first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at the Games. After the shock early exit of 2012 London Olympics Bronze medalist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt yesterday, the seven-member Indian wrestling team finished with just a solitary bronze won by Sakshi. India also failed to finish at the podium in Men's Marathon last evening on the final day of the Games as Thonnakkal Gopi ended 25th, with Kheta Ram at 26th and Nitendra Rawat at 84th.Gymnast Dipa Karmnakar also brought laurels to the country as she finished 4th in Vault Final missing on a Bronze by a whisker. Steeplechaser Lalita Babar also made the country proud by becoming the first Indian athlete in 32 years to enter the Finals of an individual event of the Games in track category. She, however, could not win a medal. The rest of the Indian contingent disappointed, with many big names failing to make a mark. United States ended the Games at the top of the medal tally. They finished with 46 Gold, 37 Silver and 38 Bronze, a total of 121 medals. Great Britain finished on second spot with 27 Gold, 23 Silver and 17 bronze. China follows on third, with a tally of 26 Gold, 18 Silver and 26 Bronze. India is 67th.Top international athletes, who may have played their last Olympics, however, made their presence felt once again. American Swimmer Michael Phelps finished the Games with 5 Gold and 1 Silver. His 5 Golds brought his total to 23 yellow metals, more than any other athlete in history. No one else is even in double figures. His Silver meant he has won 28 medals over 5 Olympics in which he has competed.Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt also created history by securing the treble treble. He won the 100 metres, 200 metres and 4X100 metres races for the third consecutive time at the Olympics. Briton Mo Farah won his fourth Olympic gold as he became only the second man to retain the 5,000 metres and 10,000 metres titles.Kenya's David Rudisha also made the headlines for retaining the Olympic 800 metres title.
