Rio 2016: shuttler PV Sidhu enter Women's single semifinals; beat world no. 2 Yihan Wang

In Rio Olympics, shuttler PV Sindhu has stormed into the Women's Singles semi-finals.AIR correspondent reports, there was determination and intent which pumped up PV Sindhu as she entered last-4 stage, that has convinced that a medal in Rio Olympics is not far away for India. In a high intensity quarter-finals match, Sindhu beat world number two and London Olympics Silver medalist Yihan Wang of China in straight games 22-20, 21-19. The scoreline does suggests that it was won in straight games but Worl number 10 Sindhu had to work tactfully to hold the Chinese shuttler. But that was her last point.Sindhu will be playing against Japanese Nozomi Okuhara in the semi-finals tomorrow.If Sindhu wins the semi-final, she will be assured of a Silver medal and if she doesn't, she will play a Bronze medal play-off. Besides Sindhu, India's medal hopes are on K Srikanth who will be seen in action in the Men's Singles quarterfinals against two time Olympic and defending Champion Lin Dan, todayMeanwhile, in Greco Roman wrestling, Hardeep Singh in the 98 kg weight category has lost his Round-of-16 match. He went down fighting against Turkey's Cenk Ildem, 1-3. Hardeep still has a chance in the repechage if Cenk makes it to the Final.Over in Athletics, Jamaican speedster Usain Bolt, who retained his 100 meters Gold, has qualified to the semi-finals of 200 metres race. He clocked 20.28 seconds a time which is bettered by 15 more sprinters going into semi finals. In women's 200 metres, World Champion Dafne Schippers has made it to the finals with the fastest time, followed by this games 100 metres Silver medalist Torie Bowie and sprint Champion Elaine Thompson.
