Rio 2016: IOC postpones decision of possible ban on Russia

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has postponed a decision on whether Russia should be banned from next month's Rio Olympics. The members of the IOC executive Board held a teleconference yesterday following the World Anti-Doping Agency's report on Russia's state-sponsored doping. A statement issued by IOC said, the decision should wait until the Court of Arbitration for Sports rules on the participation of Russia's track and field athletes in international events. The IOC also said, it will explore legal options to determine the legality of a collective ban of all Russian athletes for the Rio Games on the grounds of systematic doping. Meanwhile, Russia's Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko told local media that there was no state-sponsored doping. Russia's participation in the Rio Games hangs in the balance because of the doping allegations.
