Rio 2016: India to feature in Archery, Hockey, Boxing, Badminton, Tennis and Golf today

In Rio Olympics, Archers Deepika Kumari and Bombayla Devi will play for quarter-final berths of Individual Recurve event today. While Deepika will take on Tan Ya-ting of Chinese Taipei, Bombayla will face Mexican Alejandra Valencia.In Hockey, the Indian Men's team will play its fourth group game against the Netherlands. A win will get them into the last-8 stage. The Women's team will meet the United States in their must win fourth group fixture. The Indian eves are yet to win a game in these Games.In Boxing, Shiva Thapa will play his opening bout of the 56 kg weight category. He will take on Robeisy Carrazana of Cuba. Vikas Krishan and Manoj Kumar have already entered the last-16 of their respective categories.Meanwhile, Badminton and Golf events are beginning today. In Badminton, Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth will play their opening Singles group matches. The pairs of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa and Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy will be seen in action in the Doubles.In Tennis, the Mixed Doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Rohan Bopanna will play its first round match today. The game was washed out yesterday. Golf, which is returning to the Olympics after 112 years, will see the participation of Anirban Lahiri and Shiv Chawrasia in preliminary rounds of Men's Individual event.The United States currently leads the medals tally with 11 Gold, 11 Silver and 10 Bronze. China is second with 10 Gold, 5 Silver and 8 Bronze. Japan is third with 6 Gold, 1 Silver and 11 Bronze. India is yet to win a medal.
