Rijiju criticizes opposition for stalling Monsoon Session of Parliament

Union Minister of state for Home, Kiren Rijiju today strongly criticized the main Opposition Congress and Communist party MPs of stalling the last Monsoon Session of Parliament without proper reasons. Rijiju said that "disrupting the proceedings of Parliament without justification is a great financial loss to the exchequer and the Government would expose all this in the public.<br/><br/>Addressing a Press Conference in Shillong today, Rijiju regretted that a number of important legislations could not be passed due to disruption of Parliament .The Minister said the Congress president and Congress vice president had taken up such position against the External Affairs Minister in connection with Lalit Modi, which he termed as unnecessary and wastage of the precious time of the Parliament. During the last fifteen months, there was not a single case of corruption any of the Union Ministers, Rijiju said.<br/><br/>The Minister lauded the Meghalaya Government's efforts in containing militancy in Garo Hills Region, adding that the Central Government supports the view that the militant groups should shun violence and lay down arms before holding talks. He reiterated that criminal activities would be dealt with severely. <br/><br/>On Manipur, Rijiju said that at present the Government has no intention to impose President's Rule in the state but at the same time confirmed that the Assam Rifles would be allowed to go upto the Zero Point of the Manipur border in pursuit of the militants.
