Rijiju asks all stakeholders to join govt's initiatives on disaster management

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju has asked all stakeholders to join government's initiatives on disaster preparedness and management. Addressing the 11th foundation day function of National Disaster Management Authority, NDMA in New Delhi today, Mr Rijiju said, India has moved forward in disaster management, but there are lot more grounds to cover. Voicing concern over the huge damage to lives and property inflicted due to disasters in the country, the Minister said, the nation is losing nearly two per cent of its GDP due to various accidents and disasters which otherwise could help in enhancing the growth rate of the country to nine per cent.<br/><br/>Mr Rijiju said, global warming and climate changes are contributing to the disasters and the way human civilisation is progressing and expanding, there are more chances of disasters and everyone should be prepared to face any eventuality.
