Right to health for all and housing for poor in Cong poll manifesto

The Congress has released its manifesto for coming Lok Sabha elections. Unveiling the manifesto in New Delhi this afternoon, Congress President Sonia Gandhi said, it promises Right to Healthcare for all people and Right to housing.

She said that the manifesto also promises Right to pension for old and under privileged. Mrs Gandhi said, if voted to power again, the government will enhance social security programmes.The Congress President said, the party will strive for a secular nation which belongs to every citizen.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh said, special emphasis on education, health and agricultural growth has been spelt out in great detail in the manifesto.

The Prime Minister said with the manifesto, the Congress re-commits itself to a new vision of inclusive society and expanding economy. Stating that the government provided an agenda for growth, Dr Singh claimed only Congress model can prove lasting growth.

Our correspondent reports, the manifesto is a 15 point agenda for socio-economic and political transformation pledging Right to Social Security, right to Dignity and humane working conditions .
