In Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, rich tributes are being paid to Sri Guru Ravidas on his Prakash Utsav (birthday) with religious fervour. At many places, bhogs of Akhand Paths of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were performed today as Guru Ravidas's hymns are included in it. People of all communities are participating in the celebrations. Punjab and Haryana chief ministers have congratulated people on this day. At some places, seminars were organised today and scholars delivered lectures on the teachings of Guru Ravidas. During the functions on this occasion, scholars said that the teachings of Guru Ravidas will remain relevant forever as he always laid stress on the importance of a casteless society. His teachings are easy to understand and full of devotion. Scholars also said that Guru Ravidas always favoured the elimination of needless rituals. Yesterday, shobha yatras were organised in cities and villages to mark this occasion.
