The Procurement of rice has crossed the mark of 341 lakh metric tonnes in the Kharif Marketing season 2010-11. According to an official release, various government agencies have procured 341.84 lakh metric tonnes of rice till Thursday. The procurement is about 23 lakh metric tonnes more than last year by this date. Andhra Pradesh has procurred over 96 lakh metric tonnes followed by Punjab with more than 86 lakh metric tonnes while Chhatisgarh has procured over 37 lakh Metric tonnes. Uttar Pradesh and Orissa have also contributed significantly in procurement.
