Rice procurement in the Kharif marketing season for October-September 2011-2012, has crossed 270 lakh tonnes mark. According to statistics, over 2 crore, 70 lakh, 30 thousand tonnes of rice have been procured by various government agencies till today. An official release said, Punjab procured the highest number of over 77 lakh 31 thousand tonnes of rice, followed by Andhra Pradesh with 41 lakh, 72 thousand tonnes.
