Rice procurement in the present marketing season has crossed the 20 million tonne mark. According to an official release, this is only 3 per cent lower than the last year's procurement as on date, despite severe drought in the khariff season this year. The highest procurement to the tune of 9.27 million tonnes is from Punjab.
