RIC seeks increased global cooperation to tame terror

India, China and Russia today sought increased global cooperation to tackle terrorism and prosecution of terrorists and their sponsors. In a joint communique issued after the meeting of the foreign ministers of the three countries in Chinese City of Wuhan, they also urged all UN-Member states to conclude and adopt the comprehensive convention on international terrorism. The leaders also discussed energy, security, trade, climate change, protectionism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.The three countries backed UN reforms and India's role in the international affairs. External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishan wrapped up his two-day talks with his Chinese and Russian counterparts and took up issues including support for India's candidature for a permanent seat in the UN Security Council. New Delhi also asked Beijing to be sensitive to its concerns relating to Jammu and Kashmir in a similar manner as India is alive to China's concerns over Tibet and Taiwan. Expressing over rise in violence in Afghanistan, India also sought to intensify cooperation with China and Russia to stabilise the violence-torn country. The Ministers expressed their support to the transition to increase the Afghan responsibility on national security and Kabul's peace and reintegration plan. Our correspondent adds that India has backed the reintegration plan of Afghan Government on the condition that Taliban renounces violence, cuts of links with terrorism and accept the Afghan constitution.
