A holistic review of security at all the airports across the country has been undertaken to strengthen security . The focus this time was on cargo sector. Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an aviation safety conference in New Delhi today, Civil Aviation Minister Vayalar Ravi said a comprehensive draft is being prepared for consideration of the cabinet committee on security. In reply to a question, Mr Ravi said India is exploring to set up body scanner technologies at airports and a committee has been set up for the purpose. Earlier, addressing the conference, Mr Ravi said by 2020, 300 million passengers will be travelling by air yearly. He said, this will give fillip to the aviation industry. AIR correspondent reports, strict security measures are already in place at all Indian airports. The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has also issued fresh directions to all operators to urgently install CCTVs and take other measures to secure the entire airport area, right from the entry point. The two-day Regional Aviation Security Conference, being held under the aegis of UN body International Civil Aviation Organisation. It will evolve an aviation security roadmap which can be used by countries to proactively and jointly counter and prevent acts of unlawful interference against international civil aviation.
