Revenue Secretary Shaktikanta Das has said that government is committed to fight the menace of Black Money. Participating in the Talkathon programme organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in New Delhi today, Mr Das said, the new Black Money Bill will help in dealing with assets stashed abroad. He said, government had signed various information exchange of pacts with other countries in this regard. <br/><br/>Replying to a query about the amount of money stashed in the foreign accounts, Mr Das said, it is difficult to quantify the amount but the government's efforts is on to locate it. He acknowledged that the problem is huge because of multi layered transitions. Mr Das also mentioned that there is large amount of black money in the country which needs to be tackled urgently. Chairman of Central Board of Direct Taxes, CBDT Anita Kapur who also participated in the talkathon said, norms on income and assets stashed abroad clearly defined in new law and the act empowers Income Tax department to act against non-disclosure. She said, Black Money law covers all past attempts to conceal income and automatic exchange of information under Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act will begin from 30th of next month.<br/><br/>Talkathon is a unique initiative by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, where virtual space merges with the real world. Talkathon provides a platform for twitter users to ask questions directly to guests on twitter using a specific hashtag.
