Revenue collections from indirect tax has increased by 42 per cent during the first seven months of the current fiscal. According to official data, the total revenue collections from Customs, Central Excise and Service Tax during the period stood at 1,80,261 crore rupees which is over 57 per cent of the budget estimates of 2010-11. Maximum revenue collections to the tune of 75,349 crore rupees has been made from Customs alone during the period which is 65.9 per cent higher than the year-ago period. Revenue collections from central excise indicate 36.2 per cent increase while Service Tax collections registered 16.9 percent growth.
