Retired Lieutenant General JFR Jacob was laid to rest in New Delhi today. He had breathed his last at the Army research and referral hospital yesterday morning.<br/><br/>Before the last rites, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Minister of State for External Affairs General V K Singh, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Colonel Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Army and Air Force Chiefs, Bangladesh High Commissioner and Ambassador of Israel and senior BJP leader L K Advani paid their last respects to General Jacob.<br/><br/>General Jacob was the key architect in India's victory in 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. He also fought the 2nd World War and the Indo-Pakistan War of 1965.<br/><br/>He later served as the Governor of Goa and Punjab.
