Retail inflation eased to a 3-month low of 5.17 per cent in March this year, amid softer prices of some food items. Inflation as measured by the Consumer Price Index had stood at 5.37 per cent in February this year, and 8.25 per cent in March last year.According to government data, overall food inflation declined to 6.14 per cent in March, from 6.79 per cent in February. Retail inflation in the fuel and light segment was 5.07 per cent in March.Retail inflation in urban areas stood at 4.75 percent in March, while in rural areas it was 5.58 percent.
