Driven by costlier fruits and vegetables, retail inflation rose to 10.09 per cent in October this year. Retail inflation has now entered double digits after a gap of seven months. Inflation as measured by the consumer price index had stood at 9.84 per cent in September this year. Vegetable prices rose 45.67 per cent in October, from a year earlier, according to government data released today. Fruits were 12.84 per cent costlier, while inflation in the food and beverages segment was 12.56 per cent in October. Inflation in rural areas was 10.11 per cent, and in urban areas 10.2 per cent in October.
