Retail inflation held almost steady, at 5.77 per cent in June this year. Retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index, had been fractionally lower, at 5.76 per cent in May this year. The Government data showed that overall food inflation rose to 7.79 per cent in June. Retail inflation in vegetables rose to 14.74 per cent, and in cereals and related products, it increased to 3.07 per cent in June. But retail inflation in pulses declined to 26.86 per cent during the month. Retail inflation in rural areas was 6.2 per cent, and in urban areas 5.26 per cent in June.
