Retail inflation at 2-year high, hits 6.07% in July

Retail inflation rose to a nearly 2 year high of 6.07 per cent in July this year, as prices of food items climbed ahead of the festival season. Retail inflation, measured by the Consumer Price Index, had stood at 5.77 per cent in June this year, and 3.69 per cent in July last year. Food inflation rose to 8.35 per cent in July, from 7.79 per cent in June. Retail inflation in vegetables was 14.06 per cent, and in pulses 27.53 per cent in July.
