Resignation of Railway Minister Trivedi accepted

The resignation of Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi of Trinimool Congress has been accepted. The President Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil accepted his resignation on the recommendations of the Prime Minister . The announcement of forwarding Mr. Trivedi's resignation was made by Dr. Manmohan Singh in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

A new Minister of the party to be inducted in the Union Council of Ministers on Tuesday. The Trinamool Congress Chief Ms Mamta Banerjee on Monday met the Prime Minister and demanded modification in the rail fares so that common people did not get affected. Mr. Dinesh Trivedi had to resign after he announced hike in railway fares in the recently presented Rail Budget.

The party had asked him to do so. Ms Banerjee said, she also conveyed her reservations to the Prime Minister over setting up of the National Counter Terrorism Centre.
