Resignation by MPs & MLAs of Andhra over Telagana continued

In Andhra Pradesh, the en-mass resignations by Members of Parliament and legislators from the Telangana region continued today on the issue of separate statehood for the region. The number of legislators who resigned has gone up to 114 after some more parties like CPI, TRS and BJP joined the resignation campaign. All the four CPI MLAs have handed over their resignations to the Assembly Secretary while 11 TRS MLAs and both the BJP members also resigned. 17 MLCs of Congress and TDP have already resigned. In Delhi, 2 Lok sabha members of Telugu Desam Party and Telangana Ratsra Samithi each resigned today. While TDP members submitted their resignation papers to Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, TRS MPs sent in their papers through fax. Nine Congress Members from Lok Sabha and One member from Rajya Sabha had resigned yesterday. Meanwhile, barring minor incidents, the 48-hour long bandh called by Telangana Joint Action Committee has been peaceful so far. Road transport was badly hit due to the bandh posing severe hardships to commuters across Telangana region.
