Strike by resident doctors in Safdarjung Hospital in New Delhi entered the second day today. Over one thousand doctors went on strike on Tuesday demanding more security for them in the hospital premises. The resident doctors are protesting against an incident in which a fellow doctor, working with the hospital's gynecology department was beaten up by the relatives of a patient who died on Monday.Speaking to AIR, Dr Pratap, and General Secretary of the hospital's Residents' Doctors Association said more security is needed for doctors, who are manhandled by patients' relatives frequently. He said there should be a fool proof security arrangement in the hospital premises.Minister of State for Health Dinesh Trivedi had assured the resident doctors about ensuring security in the hospital.
