Reservoirs of all dams filled to their capacity in Punjab

In Punjab, reservoirs of all the dams have been filled to their capacity this year due to heavy rain in the catchment areas of the rivers. Water level in the Bhakhra Dam reservoir, Gobind Sagar has crossed 1681 feet.It is for the ninth day, today that spill gates of reservoir remained open to release extra water in the river Satluj. According to Bhakhra Beas Management Board(BBMB) authorities, water can be filled up upto 1685 feet till 22nd of this month as after september 22 filling season ends. Level of water in Pong Dam has also crossed 1392 feet while maximum level can be taken up to 1395 feet. Today extra water has been released in Beas river as authorities are expecting heavy inflow of water from upper areas in the dam reservoir. Alert was sounded in some villages near the banks of river Beas. Water level in Ranjit Sagar dam reservoir has reached 524 metre while it was 502 metre during last season.
