Reservation for Dalits is a right that nobody can snatch: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said there will be no dilution of reservation for Dalits, tribals and marginalised communities in the country. Mr Modi said, it is a right that nobody can snatch.<br/><br/>Delivering Dr. Ambedkar Memorial Lecture in New Delhi Monday morning, Mr Modi said, untruths on reservation are being spread by opponents for political reasons.<br/><br/>He said, no damage was done to quota during the BJP governments.<br/><br/>Remembering Dr Ambedkar, he said, Babasaheb was the voice of the marginalised and was an ardent advocate of education for all.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said that he fought for the rights of women when the Hindu Code Bill was being introduced.<br/><br/>He said Dr Ambedkar called for labour reforms and at the same time thought of industrialisation for the progress of India.<br/><br/>He said, Ambedkar's vision is still relevant today.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said, Dr Ambedkar had a vision to realise India's maritime resources, power sector and many things and he gave inner power to people by compelling people to be knowledgeable.<br/><br/>Hailing Ambedkar as a man with vision, the Prime Minister said that India owes the foundation of its labour laws and rights to Babasaheb.<br/><br/>Expressing anguish over the recognition of such a great leader after 60 years of his death Mr Modi said, it took 60 years for building a memorial of such a great leader as Ambedkar, who departed earth in 1956.<br/><br/>Calling Ambedkar bigger than being just the Messiah of Dalits, Mr Modi called him a global leader and an inspiration for all who set up an example by working towards the upliftment of the downtrodden.<br/><br/>Comparing Ambedkar with Martin Luther King, he said that Baba Saheb was as iconic as Martin Luther who worked for the betterment of the oppressed.<br/><br/>Paying tributes to Ambedkar's economic philosophy, the Prime Minister said, farmers' welfare also figured in Ambedkar's philosophy and in order to realise his dreams, Government will launch E-Marketing platform on April 14th that will help enable farmers get updated information about market rates of agri products.
