Rescue and relief ops on despite heavy downpour at Pune landslide site; 26 bodies recovered, Home Minister visits site

Union Home Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh visited the grief stricken village of Malin in Pune district of Maharahstra this afternoon.

Reviewing the damage caused due to the disaster following a landslide in the village yesterday morning, he said, the Centre will give maximum possible assistance to the victims.

Meanwhile, rescue and relief operations are on, on a war footing with nine teams of the National Disaster Response Force working round-the-clock to extricate dead bodies from the debris despite the heavy downpour.

So far 23 bodies have been recovered from the debris.Those injured in the landslide are being treated at Mancher Hospital.

Scores of people along with 44 houses are feared to have gone under the debris following the worst ever tragedey. The village has a population of 800 people.
