Reports of launching mission come from all parts of the country

Following the launching of the Swachch Bharat Mission by Prime Minister Narendra Modi nationwide, people representing various cross sections in Andaman and Nicobar Islands voluntarily offered their services in cleaning up of streets and public places.

In Government offices and in many private firms, people made efforts to sparkle their premises as part of the mission.

The movement in the Islands has evoked enthusiastic response among the people on its first day, and it is expected to provide further fillip to the tourism sector in the Islands, which plays vital role in its economy.

In Assam, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan has been launched with a vow to make the state absolute clean. Sports minister Sarbanand Sonowal launched the campaign in Guwahati railway station in presence of senior officials on North East Frontier railways .

Assam Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla launched cleanliness drive at Old Janata Bhawan premises in Guwahati. Government employees along with common people have pledged to make the country clean and contribute towards this Abhiyan.

Many people took part in cleanliness drive at ongoing Durga puja premises.
Awareness campaign is being carried out to ensure maximum participation of people.

Experts said that successful implementation of this mission would benefit Assam in many ways including boom in tourism industry.
Union Minister of State for Tourism and Culture (Independent Charge) Mr Shripad Naik today launched ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ at Karmali Railway station at Old Goa.

Speaking on this occasion Mr Naik said that India, as an important tourist destination it is duty of every citizen to keep the country clean and appeal the people to take active participation in this national wide Abhiyan.

Mr Shripad Naik gave oath to the gathering. Before starting the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” Mr Shripad Naik and Goa Chief Minister Mr Manohar Parrikar pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at Old Goa.

AIR Correspondent reports that as a part of Nationwide cleaning mission all Academic institutions, Central Government and state Government offices in the state enthusiastically take part in the mission.
Swachh Bharat Campaign has created waves in Puducherry as well. The week-long cleanliness drive that was formally launched by Lt. Governor AK Singh on Sept. 6th in the presence of Chief Minister N Rangasamy.

Volunteers undertook cleaning different locations in Puduchery on all the 7 days taking the message of Swachh Bharat across communities.

A series of programmes are being held in the city today coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.

Swachhata pledge was taken in institutions throughout the Union Territory. It was followed by shramdan cleaning their premises and public places.
In Uttar Pradesh, the Swachh Bharat campaign was kickstarted today by union home minister and local MP Rajnath Singh.

Mr. Singh led a cleanliness drive in front of Gandhi Smarak at Lucknow after garlanding the statue of the father of the nation.
In Kerala, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the State-level launch of the Cleanliness drive, at Andoorkonam Gram Panchayat, on the outskirts of the capital Thiruvananthapuram this morning, as part of the Swachh Bharat national initiative.

In Odisha, Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural gas Dharmendra Pradhan launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign at Bhubaneswar railway station.

Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram also launched Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at the Rourkela railway station.

Both the Union Ministers cleaned up the stations by sweeping in a small area for sometime in company with officials and collegues.

He will also administer the Cleanliness Pledge to the employees at Durbar Hall of the Government Secretariat today. Ministers will be in charge of the Cleanliness drive in different districts.

School, College students, Kudumbasree volunteers and Local bodies will be actively participating in the state-wide cleanliness drive.

Volunteers will be undertaking house-to-house visits,to make people aware of modern waste-disposal practices and the need for keeping house and premises clean.
Gujarat Government has announced special drive for cleanliness Campaign in the state in connection with Clean India Campaign. This was decided in a Cabinet meeting held in Gandhinagar last evening.

The meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mrs. Anandiben Patel has decided to observe the special cleanliness campaign in the state from 2nd October, the birth-anniversary of Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to 31st October, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

The nationwide Swachhta Abhiyaan will be launch by the Chief Minister at Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi, from Thursday morning.

It will continue to be celebrated in phased manners till the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in a year 2019.

The State Government’s spokesperson Mr. Nitinbhai Patel said that Swachhata Abhiyaan to be launched by Chief Minister from Mahatma Gandhi’s birth place Porbandar to mark his 146th birth anniversary as the Father of the Nation was a staunch advocate of the cleanliness.

The launching of this campaign at all district and taluka headquarters will be led by the members of Council of Ministers, MLAs, and leaders of public life.

AIR Ahmedabad correspondent reports that the Swachhta Abhiyaan is not just cleanliness drive at public places but also conceptualizing hundred percent construction of in-house toilets, eradication of malnutrition, zero waste-dust free cities-sewerage treatment plant and re-cycle and re-usage of wastage.

Gujarat is paying rich tribute to his son of soil and father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary today by launching statewide cleanliness campaign. All religion prayers have been organized at Kirti Mandir -Porbandar- the birth place of Mahatma Gandhi and Sabarmati Ashram- the work place of Mahatma Gandhi this morning. Our Ahmedabad correspondent reports that series of functions and programs have been organized in connection with Gandhi Jayant celebrations and launching of clean India campaign in the state.

The event attracted a huge interest of public as by passers stopped to watch a minister brooming the street.

The central as well as state government offices remained open for the purpose where officials first took the pledge of cleanliness and and then they also actively participated in the dusting and cleaning drive.

Large number of volunteers mostly from different Non Government Organisations and educational institutions today cleaned the banks of river Ganga and Yamuna and Sangam the confluence of rivers Ganga Yamuna and mythical Saraswati at Allahabad.

AIR Lucknow correspondent reports that a host of activity was witnessed at Kendriya Bhawan of Lucknow where officers and staff of various departments were seen dusting and shining the nook and corners of their offices.

Heaps of garbage were thrown out of the offices which were lying there unattended for years. Employees keenly removed the cobwebs from the corners of their work places.

Some even used the opportunity to organize their work places, almirahs and cabins by getting rid of the disposable material.

Reports are also pouring in from various district head quarters where the Swachhta Abhiyan is being carried out with much zeal and zest.

Mumbai and rest of Maharashtra today joined the cause of ‘swchcha bharat, sampanna bharat’ initiative of the Central Government by launching the Swachha Bharat Mission in their areas.

Governor of Maharashtra Vidyasagar Rao gave Cleanliness pledge to the officers and staff of Mantralaya to mark the launch of the Swachha Bharat Mission in Mumbai.

Prior to the oath, the Governor paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Over 10,000 employees of Central and Western Railways too joined the mission by carrying out cleanliness drives.

Besides this many government offices and education institutes too became participants of this mission today.

In Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has participated in Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Prakash Nagar in Vijayawada. He participated in a cleaning up programme and undertook a Padaytara after paying tributes to Mahatma Gandhi.

Union Minister of State for Commerce Nirmala Sitaraman and several state ministers took part in the campaign.

Coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi birth anniversary, the AP government launched NTR Sujala Scheme to provide 20 liters of purified water for two rupees in all the 13 districts.

In Telangana, Governor ESL Narasimhan along with Rajbhavan Staff cleaned roads with broom and took part in another cleaning up programme in a school in Hyderabad.

He said keeping surroundings clean should be a regular practice and stressed on promoting green practices to protect environment.
