Both the Houses of Parliament witnessed repeated adjournments with members belonging to BSP, Samajwadi Party, AIADMK and others taking strong exception to a cartoon carried in a NCERT text book.

Sharing the concern of the agitating members, the Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that Human Resources Development Minister Kapil Sibal will be responding to the matter.

As the din continued, the Speaker, Mrs Meira Kumar adjourned the House till 12 noon. When the House re-assembled, there was no change in the situation.

The members from the BJP were also on their feet while members from the BSP, SP, AIADMK, RJD trooped into the well of the house shouting slogans, forcing the Speaker to adjourn the Lok Sabha till 2 pm.

In the Rajya Sabha, BSP members forced the adjournment of the House thrice on the same issue and demanded government's response. Mr Brajesh Pathak of the BSP raised the matter in the midst of the question hour.

Supported by his party colleagues, they trooped into the well of the House. The House was first adjourned till 11.57 hrs, then till noon and finally till 2.30 pm.
