In Sikkim, the State government is working on a war-footing to extend all relief to the earthquake affected people. AIR correspondent reports, the State Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling on Monday distributed ex-gratia payments and financial assistance to 400 victims of the East district at Chintan Bhavan in Gangtok. According to official sources 4.5 crore have been distributed as relief in all the four districts so far and over 100 relief camps have been set up through out the State. AIR correspondent reports that, no sorties could be made by the Army helicopters in the earthquake ravaged North district due to inclement weather.The Chief Minister Mr. Pawan Chamling announced that the road connectivity, electricity and drinking water supply will be restored through out the State before the Dussehara vacations. On the other hand, the Governor Mr. Balmiki Prasad Singh on Monday announced to donate his one month’s emoluments to the Chief Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund .Meanwhile, a fifteen member relief team of the Indian Youth Congress left for North district with relief materials on Monday morning.
