Relief, rescue operation in full swing in cyclone affected districts of Bihar, WB

In Bihar, relief and rescue operation is in full swing in cyclone affected districts of the state. Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday made an aerial survey of the affected areas and reviewed the ongoing relief operations. The district administration has started distributing relief material and ex-gratia payment to the next of the deceased. At least 97 persons were killed and over two hundred injured in cyclone in eastern districts of Purnia , Araria,Supaul , Katihar and Kishanganj. Most of the causalities have been reported from Araria and Purnia. Ten thousand cattle heads were killed during cyclone. Over one lakhs thatched houses were destroyed. One quintal food grains are being given to each of the affected family. Polythene sheets are also given to victims for temporary shelter. The state government has announced one lakh fifty thousand rupees to the next of the kin of the deceased. Indira Awaas will be given to those persons who have been rendered homeless.<br/><br/> In neighbouring West Bengal, the death toll in Northern Dinajpore has risen to 43. The State Government has declared a grant of 2 lakh rupees for the families of the dead and 10 thousand rupees for those whose houses have been completely damage. For those with partial damage, to the houses the exgratia will be two thousand five rupees.<br/><br/> The Government of Assam has announced an ex-gratia of three lakh rupees to the families of those killed in the cyclonic storm that lashed several parts of the Dhubri district, bordering Bangladesh, on Wednesday night. According to official sources, four persons died at Baghapara village under the Mankachar Police Station area of the district.
