A relief package for coffee growers in the country is on the anvil. This will help them to compete in the international market, particularly with Vietnamese and Colombian products. The Commerce and Industry Minister Mr. Anand Sharma has said the package will also address the problem of indebtedness, particularly of small coffee growers. Mr. Sharma said the Group of Ministers for the entire plantation sector, would look into the structural issues.India's coffee exports plummeted by 22 per cent to 2.41 million bags in the first 11 months of the 2008-09 crop year, in the face of stiff competition from Vietnam and Colombia on the price front.
