In Chhattisgarh, relief operations are in full swing in the flood affected areas of the state. The Union Minister of state for Agriculture and Food Processing Industries Dr.Charandas Mahant told in a press conference in Raipur today that he has asked the state government to provide compensation to the affected families within seven days after estimating the flood damage. Stating that the state government has already been sanctioned 158 crore rupees towards disaster fund, the minister said that there will be no dearth of money in making good the losses suffered by the flood victims. Meanwhile, about 15000 people continue to stay in about 50 relief camps in the worst affected Raygarh district. All the people who had been marooned in about 8 villages in the district have since been evacuated by the local administration with the help of Army helicopters. On the other hand the level of major rivers like the Mahanadi have started decreasing due to absence of heavy rainfall during the last 48 hours. Major roads have also opened to vehicular traffic as usual.
