The government today said, the compensation part of the rehabilitation of victims of violence including acid attack is governed by provision of the Criminal Procedure Code. Under the provsion every State in co-ordination with the Central is required to prepare a scheme for providing funds for the purpose of compensation to the victim of crime. <br/><br/>In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, the Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said, Home Ministry has set up a Central Victim Compensation Fund (CVCF) with an initial corpus fund of 200 crore rupees from the Nirbhaya Fund. As per the CVCS, the State Governments are required to modify the State Victim Compensation Scheme (VCS) suitably in view of the implementation of the CVCS guidelines.
